Welcome
to Traditional Czech Countryside
The landscape of The Blaník Knights Country is a place abounding in natural beauty and rich in history. At its heart rise the summits of Velký Blaník and Malý Blaník, which give the whole region its name. A lookout tower stands on the summit of Velký Blaník and gives romantic views over the local countryside. It is situated on the remains of a Celtic fort, whose history goes back to the 5th century BC. However, Velký Blaník is known thanks mainly to the legend of its sleeping warriors. The origins of this tale go back to the 15th century.
Small towns and villages form an inseparable part of the Blaník Knights Country, which preserves its original character typical of Central Bohemia. The settlements are part of a graceful landscape mosaic which is enhanced by the River Blanice, a number of streams, fishponds large and small, forests, barns, fields and meadows. An abundance of small religious structures, chapels, crosses and bell towers, which are set in the landscape, have had a huge influence on the romantic appearance of the Podblanicko District.
